"OPERATION MADEA"

On Friday, November 23, 2012 at 9:12 a.m., the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a call and dispatched deputies to First Security Bank in Robinsonville for a robbery.  Within three minutes, deputies arrived on the scene and were met by bank employees informing them that the alleged suspect had fled the scene in a red vehicle not knowing at the time of the report if the suspect was a male or female.  Later that evening, the Sheriff’s Office received from Crime Stoppers information about a possible suspect.  Within 12 hours of the robbery, the Criminal Investigation Division had developed a strong person of interest.

Over the weekend, countless hours of investigation was put in to gather enough information that lead to the arrest of Marvin Webb on Monday afternoon in Girard, Kansas on a traffic stop.

Marvin Webb, 45, of 201 Southwestern Avenue, Girard, Kansas is being held at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to Tunica County, Mississippi.

Also, Marvin Webb is also a person of interest in the robbery of Mahan Grocery that occurred at 8:23 p.m. on October 30th

Marvin Webb will be charged with armed robbery of First Security Bank.  Armed Robbery carries a penalty of life in prison.  Additional charges are pending.

Sheriff Hamp would like to thank the deputies and investigators for their quick response time and Tunica Crime Stoppers for providing information from tipsters who called the Crime Stopper Hotline.  Sheriff Hamp would also like to express how thankful that no injuries occurred during the robbery.
