Fugitive from South Carolina Apprehended in Tunica

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a phone call stating that an individual with outstanding warrants to the below referenced incident was visiting a casino located in Tunica County.

Tunica County Sheriff's Office investigated this crime tip which led them to the apprehension of Amy Perez, 45, of Union County, North Carolina. Perez had the following active warrants:

  • Courts/Intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses
  • Impersonating Law Enforcement Officer
  • Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime
  • Attempted Murder
  • Kidnapping (2 counts)
  • Burglary

Tunica County Sheriff's Office arrested Amy Perez and transported her to the Tunica County Jail, where Perez is currently in custody.

Tunica County Sheriff's Office is in contact with law enforcement officials from Chesterfield County regarding the apprehension of Perez. This investigation is active and ongoing. If you have any information regarding this incident, contact TCSO on 662-363-1411.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office was notified that a female and her 8-year-old son, were taken by force from the residence they were staying in the Jefferson area of Chesterfield County.

After approximately 8 hours, both victims were located by Chesterfield County deputies. The adult female was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and her son was not injured.

 

Two people have been charged and additional arrests are anticipated.

 

Sheriff Cambo Streater would like to commend the fast action and hard work by the deputies who responded to this very serious event. He would also like to thank the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Union County North Carolina Sheriff's Office and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for their support and assistance with this case.
